Even the plugins made for ePSXe are compatible with PCSX-R I'm also concerned that PCSX ReARMed is not allowed, and I think it's a derivative project of ePSXe. I have to say that, except for Vsync, video driver, and controller input, all the default options of RetroArch are being used, and the core options are also at its defaults, except for controller type.

Experience the return of the legendary side-scrolling shoot-em-up series with R-Type Final 2, coming to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series XS, PC and GOG in Spring. retroarch-core-options.cfg Transfer PS1 Memory Card Files Mednafen creates memory card files for each individual game, in contrast to PCSX-R/ePSXe where all game saves are stored into 2 memory card files.

What made it special at the time was the coprocessor attached to it which made it very adequate at 3D rendering: the Geometry Transfer Engine. For full rumble and analog support in mednafen, you may need to set psxenabledualanalogtype to 'dualshock' in. How many BIOS files does Mednafen need The three BIOS files needed by Mednafen (and RetroArch/OpenEmu, if using Mednafen as core). For PSX, the emulation cores are from Mednafen, so this is a good one to download if you’re having trouble using Mednafen as a stand-alone product. Not that it matters, since my emulation experiences are better on Linux than on Windows Like most emulators, it has save and load states so you can pick up right where you left off. Is RetroArch better than ePSXe ePSXe is the more accurate emulator of the two for Android, though PCSX-ReARMed has more choices for shaders and stuff, being tied into Retroarch. I don't have access to a Windows system either. My linux distribution doesn't have any other allowed emulators, and ePSXe is available, but its number version is greater than the max allowed. The Beetle PSX core is maintained by the Mednafen team, and I don't have access to other emulators. Once installed, head back to the Main Menu and Load Core.

You can also choose the non-HW version, but I recommend using HW instead.

Scroll down to Playstation (Beetle PSX HW). Within Online Updater, select Core Updater.

I'm not quite sure how to use Tirion's mod that will enable us to play Cross in upscaled textures, so I'll give the floor to them.Īll other discussions specifically related to RetroArch and this project can be had here.I have this concern that for some godforsaken reason, RetroArch with the Beetle PSX core runs at full speed, while Mednafen itself lags sometimes. Install Beetle PSX (HW) First, head to the Main Menu, then select Online Updater. it varies with the version/installation of retroarch so it never hurts to double check. Am saddened because I prefer to run Retroarch for ease of use, but I guess its back to ePSXe then : Re: Mednafen PSX PBP support message 4313 is a reply to message 4311 Thu, 28 January. Thanks : Re: Mednafen PSX PBP support message. You can then Import Content from inside RetroArch to find your game. go to core options and check the system path, it might be 'bios' subdirectory of your retroarch folder, for instance. I really like Mednafen PSX over ePSXe but no pbp support is frustrating. Find these online and toss them into RetroArch's "system" folder. To get Chrono Cross (or any PSX game) to work, however, I believe you also need some of the PSX's bios files.

Select and update one of those (or both!). The only difference, I believe, is that HW offers more features.

There are two: "Sony - PlayStation (Beetle PSX HW)" and "Sony - PlayStation (Beetle PSX)".

Once you start RetroArch, you'll need to go from the Main Menu to "Online Updater" -> "Core Updater", then find the PlayStation cores. On top of all that, RetroArch also runs on iOS and Android for tablets and phones, as well as on game consoles like PS2, PS3, PSP, PS Vita, Wii, Wii U, 2DS, 3DS, Switch, and more RetroArch is available on many popular store fronts for free, including Steam, Amazon App Store, Huawei App Gallery Google Play The current stable version is: 1.10. RetroArch itself is not an emulator but instead runs off plugins called "cores". Fortunately, the RetroArch developers are already pretty good at that: Their webpage has downloads and installation videos and instructions for just about every system you can imagine. Since Tirion's mod works off of RetroArch, I figured I'd write a short tutorial on how to get it set up.
